The ITree by Music in Motion

By Maria Bargellini of DFW Christmas Lights

Wants something new this holiday season? Love those crazy Holiday videos where someone else’s home is dancing to tunes in a spectacular Holiday Lighting display? Well people–I want to introduce you to a fantastic new product that will give you a similar display without the cost or hassle of a high tech computerized show. It’s called the ITree, by Music in Motion. There’s two products in this family, an indoor tree that looks like your traditional Holiday tree and an outdoor version, which is a cone shaped tree made with lights instead of green material. You can scroll down to view the video for a demonstration of this innovative new product.

Indoor Itree: This tree is not just an attractive artificial tree. It is wired with sets of solid green, white and multi colored mini strands of either incandescent or LED’s that light up to music. The tree comes with 7 songs on a card that plugs into the unit, but you can buy more cards or download your own songs. The ITree comes ready to use, taking minutes to set up. If you use other decorations such as lighted gift boxes you can connect them to the tree to incorporate them into your dancing display.

Outdoor ITree: This tree is simple to set up, usually taking only 15 minutes for the tree itself. But aside from the tree itself synchronizing to music–it allows you to run additional lights off of the tree to incorporate your entire home in the musical lighting display. You can use 3,000 incandescent lights or 30,000 LED lights. The video below shows you a house that did just that.

Those lighting displays you see on Youtube use expensive computerized equipment–not this tree. It’s the most affordable tool on the market today. It gives you the freedom to create your very own display without breaking the bank. If you would like more information on this new product please refer to the comment box below.

Christmas Tree Decorating Ideas

By Maria Bargellini,

Christmas trees don’t need to be ball ornaments and your grandma’s tinsel. It can be anything you want to be. Below are some ideas to give you a new take on decorating this holiday season. Almost anything can be made to hang as an ornament. A little glue and a little twine can go a long way in helping you get that special tree for your holiday. Check in for more Christmas Tree decorating Ideas.

Christmas Tree ideas

Baby’s first Christmas Tree: We’re expecting our first in February and his/her first tree is going to be so much fun to build. You can use a variety of number 1′s, first Christmas ornaments are easy to find, stuffed toys, rattles, booties. Basically if it ain’t glued to the floor you can stick it on your tree.

Patriotic Christmas Tree: Use small flags, red white and blue ornaments (all sizes), and stars. If you have a loved one in the service you can add their pictures, numbers, yellow ribbons. Army men toys are fairly easy to find now and you can use them as ornaments as well.

Family Christmas Tree: Decorate your tree with pictures of your family members and other mementos  of your lives together. It can be anything. You can use toys to represent small children, Ed books for college kids, and ornaments that describe their professions, like a stethoscope for doctors.

Santa Claus Christmas Tree: Of course-why not? Santa is quite the celebrity. You can find figurines, ornaments, and toys of all sizes and shapes, just waiting to be purchased to find a home on your tree. Mix the Santa’s with red and white candy canes, ornaments and anything else you can think of.

Color themed Christmas Trees: There’s tons of colors out on the market now. You can get ornaments and lights in almost any color you can imagine. Pick a solid color theme like all red or a 2 color them, like black and white to make a striking tree.

Sports Christmas Tree: Does your family have a favorite team? Fantastic, a Cowboy Christmas it is. Adorn your tree with little helmets, footballs, goals, or whatever coincides with your favorite teams. And if you are not sure about the novelty of it you can just use the colors. I think white, blue and silver look great on a tree.

Off Season Christmas Tree: Hate cold weather and miss the beach–no worries! You can have a vacation of beach tree. You can use solid color ball and paint them to look like beach balls. You can use suns, starfish, beach hats, surf boards, or whatever reminds you of happy days under the warm sun.

Holiday Tree Lights

Lighting your trees can be the most dramatic detail in your holiday display. Trees can be wrapped several different ways to accommodate your style and budget. Contact us for more information on your different options.

Tall Trees
Older trees with multiple large limbs make the most striking impact. Trees with thick lower limbs look better than trees with high limbs and long bare trunks. Lighting these types of trees will usually require 1-2 separate electrical circuits to support all the strands of lights. If power is an issue consider using LED light strands instead.

Material
Mini lights are the most commonly used lights for this application. LED strands typically use 1/4-1/8 of the amount of electricity and are being used more frequently.

Colors
Typically our customers have preferred clear lights. But don’t let that sway you away from multi colored or solid colored lights. Strands come in a multitude of colors.

Medium EverGreens
Hollys and Magnolias make great displays. Taller young trees look great and are a good budget choice because you can wrap smaller trees high using less strands. Holly varieties (except for Possum Haw) all make great show pieces and accents. They offer great branching structure and foliage. These typically will look like Christmas trees due to the pyramid shape they are usually trimmed in.

Material
Larger Magnolia Trees look better with C7 opaque bulbs. Multi color seems to be the favorite but they look great done in white/clear C7 and mini lights as well.

Small trees
Because of their multi branches Crepe Myrtles tend to look like blobs of lights when too many of them are lit. Other types of small trees look great when lit and are a great way to accent your display, and it’s the perfect opportunity to add some color.

Material
Typical clear mini lights are used, but I love the way solid and multi colored trees look. LED multi strands have a more intense color that looks great. If your not ready for color try using different bulbs, such as white C9. This bulb is an opaque solid white color.
